For example: If you try to use a wallpaper with 1024 x 768 pixel image on your iPad and then, if you hold the iPad vertically, it will cut the photo off. Lot of space at the top and bottom will be left off as well.
The solution is to create a square image packing 1024 x 1024 pixels. However, keep in mind that some portions of the image may get chopped off, depending on how the user is holding his iPad. That is why we need to choose a safe area where the main person or thing in the wallpaper is visible. Safe area is roughly 768 x 768 so that the main person is never chopped off in either modes. In the end, save the image in either JPG or PNG format and then transfer it to your iPad through iTunes.
